Professor Jon Fea may not be a Christian

Jon Fea is a professor at Messiah College, who claims to be a Christian. His quote below is typical of many secularists' lack of discernment that have convictions God the Holy Spirit could never have. Thus, his comment below--if it is accurate--calling Professor Warren Throckmorton a Christian, is biblically inaccurate. Throckmorton is a secularist, who, honestly, has a somewhat correct understanding of the founding. However, Throckmorton condones homosexuality, which Jesus Christ and the Bible condemn (Mat 5:17-18, etc.), meaning God convicts Christians, that are born again, from involvment in that sin. The question is what about Fea? Does not God convict him that homosexuality is sin? Here he writes from Throckmorton's blog:
*Getting Jefferson Right* is an intellectual and historical take down of David Barton’s pseudo-history of Thomas Jefferson by two Christian professors who teach at a conservative Christian college. Michael Coulter and Warren Throckmorton have done their homework. Anyone who reads this book must come to grips with the untruths and suspect historical interpretations that Barton regularly peddles in his books, speaking engagements, and on his radio program. I have yet to read a more thorough refutation of Barton’s claims.

This is absolutely ridiculous! How can you judge someone's faith when you don't even know them. I know Professor Fea (spelled John by the way) very well, and he is not only a very convicted Christian, but also the best history professor I ever had. I find it terrible that anyone could say someone is not a Christian. Only the Lord can judge the heart and just because someone has a different opinion than you, does not give you the right to question their faith!

This is just comical. You need to check your facts...starting with the spelling of Professor Fea's first name.

I noticed a couple errors in your opening sentence. It should read, "John Fea is a professor at Messiah College, who is a Christian."

I wish I could say that I was surprised to see OFT write all of this about JON (actually John) Fea, but I am not. Our Founding Truth is a very special brand of stupid. I've had many an encounter with this moron and I am never disappointed. These words may sound harsh but I am actually toning it back. And I am sure that OFT will see all of this "persecution" as "proof" that he is on the "right" path, but don't fool yourself. OFT, you are officially a dumbass.

"Nothing is more dangerous to the world than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity." -Martin Luther King.

Just wanted to echo what other commenters have said so well:

Dr. John Fea is an incredible teacher and a truly devoted Christian man. He's also committed to academic integrity, and a talented historian.

This post seems to be carelessly written. It is intentionally divisive, and not useful for 'building one another up.' Please, let's correct the record on Dr. Fea.

David Barton has done some good work, but his book on Jefferson is weak on research and naive on conclusions.

Whether or not negative estimations of this book come from Christians or non-Christians, I am sorry that Barton wrote it.

Anything he may say in the future about Jefferson or America's founding will be held suspect by scholars and thoughtful readers.

Anonymous, I'm only doing what Jesus said I could do; judge:

"Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment."
John 7:24

"Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?"
Luke 12:57

Anonymous, read the Bible, be a master of it, and if anyone tells you something that contradicts it, disregard it.

You as a Christian are to have discernment about moral and spiritual things. The judgment the Bible refers to is hypocritical judgment, like judging blasphemers, and yet I'm doing the same thing.

I pray you become a strong warrior for the Lord. Time is running out. Be strong, steadfast, always abounding in the Lord.

Mr. Chase,

If you can prove to me by Scripture that I am wrong, please do. However, the Bible is the authority for anything and everything it speaks about. Ask Fea if a homosexual can be a Christian. Maybe he will have the courage to post here. We are in the last days, these issues are now front and center.

Mr. Fea called Mr. Throckmorton a Christian. It is impossible for that to be. Unless Mr. Fea's conscience is convicted by that statement, he cannot be a Christian. If convicted, he should retract the statement. The Holy Spirit will convict affirming to Christ what is not His, as Fea did.

Even James, Jesus' brother writes "not doing the right thing is sin." James 4:17

Can anyone be a Christian?
Just as it is impossible for Barack Obama to be a Christian, so it is with any person who affirms Sin that is not convicted by God the Holy Spirit.

Bobby,

I think you are correct. Thomas Jefferson was not a Christian. In fact, he called Paul a deceiver and liar. He needs to stop writing about TJ. He is neglecting the better evidence of the Christian Nation Thesis.

Brad,

I pray you repent, accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, so you won't have to answer for your sins and be separated from God forever.

Fea is correct about Jefferson, Barton is NOT. This is an essay I just published on Jefferson: http://www.republicaffair.com/test-of-faith-jeffersons-jesus.html

Chuck,

I didn't say Barton was correct about Jefferson. My post claimed
Fea is not a Christian if he believes what Throckmorton quoted him saying.

By the way, you may want to read up on this blog. The Christian Nation thesis has nothing to do with a theocracy.
